Face Oils: Oils that are good for dry and sensitive skin

Natural facial oils bring the pure care of nature with its skincare. Vegetable oils contain the vitamins and healthy fatty acids in the respective plants. This makes them particularly gentle and well-tolerated, especially for sensitive skin.

If you have sensitive skin, you often have an uncomfortable feeling of tightness or itchy skin. Redness or scaly patches appear. Such symptoms indicate damage to the skin’s protective barrier. Their job is, among other things, to keep the moisture in the skin and to protect it from harmful substances.

Due to the weakened skin barrier, sensitive skin tends to react more quickly to active ingredients in cosmetics. These can be artificially produced ingredients such as emulsifiers, preservatives or fragrances. However, sensitive skin can also respond to natural active ingredients. Before you use vegetable oil, put a few drops in the crook of your arm to see if you can tolerate it.

You should know these facial oils if you have sensitive skin

The following facial oils soothe irritated skin, smooth rough patches and reduce redness. You can use these oils in an emergency when your skin is overreacting. Or you use them for daily care and skin diseases such as neurodermatitis or psoriasis.

  • Borage Oil: It soothes when there is inflammation or itching. The oil ensures that the skin can retain its moisture better. Borage oil contains high levels of linoleic acid. The body itself uses linoleic acid to protect the skin’s surface. As a result, oils that have a lot of linoleic acids are particularly kind to the skin and are quickly absorbed.
  • Calendula or Marigold Oil: Marigold is used in herbal medicine to heal wounds. With the oil of this plant, you care for your sensitive skin gently. Tip: You can also make marigold oil yourself.
  • Hemp oil: The oil also contains linoleic acid and omega-3 fatty acids. With this bundle of healthy fatty acids, the oil reduces inflammation in the skin.
  • Evening primrose oil: The nourishing facial oil has a similar effect to borage oil. It soothes and promotes the healing process when the skin is irritated. The linoleic acids in it help the skin to regulate its moisture content.

Facial oils for dry skin

  • Almond oil: The oil smoothes rough areas and also cares for dehydrated skin. However, the oil can lead to blackheads. Therefore, you should be careful with almond oil if your forehead and nose tend to shine. In such cases, you probably have combination skin. Caution: If you have a nut allergy, the almond oil could cause skin irritation.
  • Sea buckthorn oil: It contains beta-carotene or provitamin A and vitamin E. The vitamins protect and regenerate stressed skin.
  • Wild rose oil: also contains provitamin A, which strengthens the skin and protects against UV rays. In addition, it soothes stressed skin and helps against redness.
