How do I apply the self-tanning foam correctly?
When to apply the foam?
First of all, free up time for your tanning session because if done quickly, it won’t work! Set a day and save time. You will need a minimum of 2-3 hours to tan all in all. Tanning takes less than an hour, but for beginners, always allow extra time to complete all the steps.
Pre-application
Prepare your skin well before tanning. You can shower or bathe with an exfoliator or body scrub or a scrub mitt. The scrub removes all the dead cells from your skin to prepare it for an even and long-lasting tan. It is advisable to avoid the use of oil-based scrubs, as the oil contained in these products acts as a barrier against the tanning solution applied to your skin.
Pamper the dry areas of your skin
Another important tip on how to apply the foam is to dab a drop of moisturising cream on rough areas of your skin after bathing. These rough areas include elbows, knees, cuticles, wrists and the soles of the feet. By keeping these areas moisturized, you’ll prevent the tan from building up and blotching. When applying to your face, apply a moisturizer to the hairline.
Hair removal
Do your hair removal one day before applying the self-tanning mousse. It will make your skin less sensitive. Shaving after a foaming tan exfoliates tanned skin cells and lightens the tint of your tan.
The application of self-tanning foam in steps:
Apply self-tanning foam with a glove to protect your hands and not stain them. The glove will allow you a homogeneous and trace-free application all over her body and face. Apply the foam in circular movements on the body.
A perfect tan begins with the largest areas of the body (stomach, torso, arms, back, legs). Then focus on the neck, feet, ankles and knees.
Never be afraid to tan your face! The best way to apply a self-tanner to the face is to start with this area before the body and put a very small amount of product on your glove or a liquid foundation brush. Then apply in circular motions and leave on for 30 to 60 minutes, then rinse your face. You won’t need any more foundation.
At least wait 10 minutes before getting dressed after applying the foam. This time is necessary for the solution to dry and not stain your clothes. Do not shower or exercise during this time.
A self-tanning foam is suitable for all skin types and complexions. It is not a dye that will act on your skin, but the Natural DHA which will oxidise your skin with the air and give you a summery tan. For the desired tanning colour, it is up to you to customise your exposure time.
You can leave the product on for between 1 hour and 8 hours (overnight is so much more practical and it doesn’t stain the sheets!). The longer you leave it on, the more matte your tan will be, just like when you tan in summer! And this even on the fairest of skins! If you tend to blush or not tan in the summer, the mousse is made for you! It gives you a golden and luminous complexion, even on the fairest skin.
It is recommended to choose private label self-tanning mousse that is a vegan and cruelty-free product with:
- Coconut water for skin hydration.
- Active ingredient DHA (Dihydroxyacetone) causes a reaction of the amino acids contained by the dead cells located on the surface of the epidermis. Through oxidation, the colour changes.
