Home remedies that help in sunburns

Coconut oil

This product contains fatty acids that can improve your health in many ways, as it is very rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals.

It has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that help us prevent possible infections while calming irritation and redness. It is a great hydrating skin toner that speeds up the healing process of burns.

Cold water

Applying cold water compresses is highly recommended to relieve the discomfort of sunburn. You can do this by dipping a towel in cold water and applying it to the burned areas for several minutes. Soak the towel often to keep it as cool as possible, avoiding applying ice to burned skin. This could decrease blood flow and cause tissue damage, as well as give you a cold burn.

Water compresses can be a great help in removing heat from your burn, but you should apply them right after you’ve sunburned.

Plantain leaves

Another home remedy for sunburn is plantain, a highly recommended plant for this purpose. Although it is native to Europe and Asia, it grows almost anywhere in the world.

Plantain leaves have various properties such as anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and anti-hemorrhagic properties. You can use the fresh leaves well washed and apply on sunburn, or crush them and get the juice to apply on the burn.

Tomato

This vegetable is the one with the greatest moisturizing properties and can be used to treat superficial burns for different reasons. Of course, as long as it is a matter of burns that are not serious.

In addition, it has anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties thanks to its lycopene content. Therefore, applying it to treat dry skin produced after sunburn is very beneficial. Use its pulp to apply it to the affected area and leave it to act for about 15 minutes before removing it with cold water.

Potato

Potatoes have starch-based compounds that can soothe sunburn. To enjoy its benefits, you can cut a raw potato into slices and rub them where you have sunburn.

You can also grate a cold, raw potato and use it as a poultice. You can mix it in the blender with a little water and apply it to the affected areas. Finally, wait for it to dry before rinsing.
